My name is Sara and in my previous work life as a photographer,
people knew me as Sara Lynn. My love of photography started at the very young age of eight, when my parent's purchased a film camera and the first frames I exposed were at my older sister's wedding. I grew up watching my mom create wedding dresses and sitting in the corner as I looked up to beautiful women trying on dresses and talk about details, so you could say weddings and art are in my blood. Ten years later, I attended fine art school and was formally trained in film photography and the art of the dark room. While in college, my photography business blossomed and after graduating and working a few random jobs, I became fully self-employed in 2011. I planned on running a high-end boutique style photography business for the rest of my life with multiple staff, a store front and plans to travel the world. And then I laid eyes on my first child, and I knew my entire world had changed. I slowly started to cut back and with that, I watched the wedding and event industry also change. After having my second child, the world forever changed with COVID lockdowns. We left the state we were in (Colorado) and headed back to our home state of South Dakota and with that, I retired as an award-winning photographer. My first child, diagnosed with autism and verbal apraxia, has taught me more about myself, life and the meaning of faith than I ever knew was possible. Our journey has drastically changed because of him and I owe it to God for placing him in our lives at the moment He did. I now focus on holistic approaches to healing, homeschooling the boys, helping with our business and sharing art, design, recipes and more. |
